ONE NIGHT ONLY!

24H2M was Hand2Mouth’s newest 24-hour devising festival featuring artists from across the Portland metro area. 20 artists came together for just 24 hours to create four short devised works for an evening of genre-defying surprises, community engagement, and sheer joy.

We wanted to work with them, feature them and create works that can only be devised when people come together and share their experiences and imagination to make something new in community. These artists include some we’ve worked with or mentored and some we’ve only admired from afar. 24H2M began on the evening of November 17th, where our 20 artists were divided into four groups of five people. The artists were given a theme and a list of ingredients they must include. This might be a prop, a line from a show, a song, a choreographed moment, or something off-the-wall surprising. The teams then toke these ingredients and had 24 hours to ruminate, research, explore, play, and refine a short piece to be performed one night only on November 18th. Who knows what will come from these collective minds? Expect frivolity and genius, humor and depth, and certainly the unexpected.
