2024/2025 SEASON
This season Hand2Mouth is exploring the banned book epidemic in the U.S. with a focus on the lives and stories of Oregonians. Activities include workshops, community events and investigation, and thematic inspiration for all our works this season, including 24H2M, our annual Youth Devising Residency production, and a new devised work premiering in Portland for a public run in Spring 2025 called BANNED. The season is a celebration of defiance in the face of pressure to ban certain lives and lifestyles and histories and cultures.
By popular demand, this immersive experience returns for a third year! Focusing on displacement and houselessness, this work takes audiences on a journey through a fictional catastrophic event that brings audiences to a housing camp on the SW Waterfront at the historic Zidell Yards. Witness the world through the lens of Oregon’s not-too-distant history and imagine a better future.
AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2024
This year, the H2M YDR ensemble tackles censorship and banned books to create an original production premiering in spring!
APRIL 2025
We had so much fun the first time, we are doing it again! Four teams of five local artists get just 24-hours to create an original devised work with just a few ingredients. Wacky, fun, imaginative and hilarious! A masterclass in devising!
NOVEMBER 2024
Hand2Mouth’s newest original devised work explores two separate incidents in 2023 in the Canby and West Linn-Wilsonville School Districts where parents tried banning several books from schools. Who is affected by the loss of these works?
