This Spring, Hand2Mouth will premiere its newest devised work, BANNED. The project’s artistic ‘documentary’ approach will use community interviews and two 2023 incidents in the Canby and West Linn-Wilsonville School Districts in Oregon as inspiration to create a story about the people affected by the themes most often challenged.

The work seeks to begin a conversation with our audiences about the harm caused by banning books - and place the real events in our own Oregon communities in the last years into the long history of banning and denying the lives and realities of others. The project includes a series of connected community engagement events in West Linn, Wilsonville and Portland in partnership with Multnomah County Library and other pending partners, as well as education outreach efforts in greater Metro area public schools.
