We have entered a new year and are creating new work that reflects the moment. Many of us have felt scattered, disconnected, and rough around the edges. Theatre has the power to glue us back together.

We decided to meet the moment, and create digital pieces this spring. Having welcomed four new company members prior to the pandemic, we have been longing for the chance to work with each other. We pulled names out of a hat and separated into three groups to create three independent projects that we presented as a compilation of digital shorts. Each group invited a collaborating artist from outside of the company to join them in creation.

We took an analog approach to this new landscape. We cut and pasted together the techniques we know with the experimental unknown. This low-budget, imperfect, non-precious approach is the opposite of our traditional multi-year, research-based, development process. Yet, we are professional artists and storytellers and the Hand2Mouth stamp is ever present. We value collaboration and meaningful experience. This was an assemblage of forms creating a new whole.

We used this opportunity to explore new ways of storytelling, of working together in ways we have never before, and in connection to community. This was a collage. Of ideas, collaborators, mediums, platforms, tools, techniques, and surprises. This was experimental theatre.

We present to you, IS ANYBODY OUT THERE? WE’RE RIGHT HERE.
